I found some sidewalk chalk and started scrawling on the pavement in our parking lot --
A welcome "Hello!" at the back entrance to our house
Our cat Tigrr, who somehow got nicknamed BUNKY, wandered by --
Tigrr, a.k.a. Bunky
I admit - there is a certain je n'est ce qua of kittyness missing from this portrait, but it's a pretty good likeness from a wannabe artist.
My better half, Shirley, has adopted half a dozen squirrels in the back yard. "My squirrels," she calls them. We go through a bag of peanuts a week. I decided they deserved to be acknowledged and protected --
Squirrel Crossing
I admit that this is a terrible squirrel likeness, but you gotta love the lettering.
My granddaughter Kristine and her friend Amber stopped over, grabbed some chalk, undoubtedly inspired by me, and started adding to the gallery --
2 Nana - ♥ Amber (dedicated to Shirley)
Kristine's Peace Symbol
You have to realize that Kristine is genetically predisposed to be a hippie. She inherited the hippie gene from her Papa (me) and Nana (Shirley). NOTE -- The 60s hippie pictures will appear in a future blog.
Our next visitor was our son Todd's excellent friend Nate Sergio, who is a talented artist and photographer. During the Renaissance he would have been sponsored by the Medici family, the Sforza family, or the like. His additions to the gallery are epic --
Superhero by Nate
I attributed the Sun, Moon, and Clouds piece to Nate but found out later that it was the lovely Connie DiGennaro who drew it. She is another wonderful creative person who we don't see often enough.
Sun, Moon, and Clouds
I decided our car needed a dedicated parking spot --
POS Parking Spot
I found some more chalk in different colors and, while this is as yet unfinished, I believe it will be my Pièce de résistance --
Singin' Da Blues
Score to follow.
